Judging Criteria
Judging Overview
Applications for the Minnesota Ethical Leadership Award (MELA) are evaluated using the MELA rubric. Each judge reads, scores, ranks and discusses the merits of the applicants to determine its recommendations for the award. After the panel has made its recommendations, Synergy & Leadership Exchange (Synergy) finalizes the recommendations and contacts all applicants.
Judges for the Minnesota Ethical Leadership Award are volunteers who serve without compensation. They are experienced practitioners and leaders from private, public and independent sector organizations who are committed to quality character and ethical leadership development. Judges are given an orientation, including a review of the scoring criteria. Judging panels are assembled with an emphasis on expertise.
Judging Ethics
For the award process to be effective, Synergy expects fairness and objectivity from all panelists. The background and relationship of all judges to any applicants is reviewed to avoid conflicts of interest. Judges also sign a Confidentiality/Conflict of Interest Statement.
All entry documentation is treated as confidential.
